Home at last!

Boy are we happy to be home. We were getting geared up for discharge on Tuesday when they told us that they were not happy with her bilirubin level and her weight loss. She went from 6 lb 13 oz down to about 6 pounds. Those last two days in the hospital were rough. Amelia was so sleepy. She had to spend over 24 hours on the bilibed, which was not the most comfortable thing for our little girl. We were also supposed to feed her every 2 hours.... Are you kidding me. It would take over an hour to feed and then we would rest for 45 min and go for it again. Hillory has been a champ. Nice work mom! Finally on Thursday morning we got some good news that the bilirubin and the weight were turning around and we got to go home. We have wanted to get home so bad. We finally made it.

Last night was another rough night. Between feeding and supplementing and feeding and supplementing, the proverbial towel was almost tossed. But our doctor appointment was great. Her weight was up and her bilirubin was an acceptable level. We have had a great day at home.
Love you
Claire comes to visit her sister and gets distracted by a couple different things. Look at all the ways that Clarie figures out how to eat her ice cream while still keeping her eyes on the television.
Good focus Claire.
Number 3.
Finally the ice cream wins out and she makes every effort to get out every drop.

Here is our little glow worm on the bilibed.

The nurses said that bili-bed babies are paci-babies. Since they cannot be swaddled, they need something else to calm them down.

Finally the bili-bed was turned off and Amelia settled in for a nice nap with out the lights.

That last meal was real good - real good I say.

Amelia feels very comfortable about the thought of going home.

Every so often Amelia looks around. I know she must be thinking, "am I really still here?"

Mom has taken such good of our little girl.

She's tucked in and ready for the car.
Welcome home Amelia!!!! We love you.

We're grateful that you are all home and getting adjusted to your new regimen. Although the past few days have been exhausting and rigorous, what a perfect baby our little Amelia is. Hillory we express our deepest love to you for doing that which only a mother can do. And Nate, Claire and Grandma Carter win academy awards for their essential supporting roles. Mom and I love and miss you all so very much. Skype with you soon.

What a cute little baby. The streak continues.
Those ice cream pictures of Claire remind me of her first milkshake experience last year around this time.

Hang in there, Hill. Please call me if you want me to take Claire for a few hours. I'm happy to do it!

Also, Christopher likes the picture of Amelia flipping the bird. She's just letting you know how she feels about the bili-bed.
